Disable Startup Programs

Disabling unneeded startup programs can help speed up your computer. Before disabling anything, it is important to know what each program is used for.

In Windows 8 and 10, Use the Startup tab in Task Manager. Task Manager can be opened using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Esc. To disable a program from starting up with Windows, Select the program and click the Disable button at the bottom.

In Windows 7, Use the System Configuration Utility (msconfig). Open the utility by searching for msconfig as shown below.
