Microsoft System Configuration Utility

The Microsoft System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) can be used to enable or disable any software, services, boot parameters, device drivers and system controls.

Command: msconfig

The General tab configures startup mode, options include normal, diagnostic and selective.

Normal startup – Load all device drivers and services

Diagnostic startup – Load basic devices and services only

Selective startup – Choose to load system service and startup items

The Boot tab configures boot options, such as Safe boot, No GUI boot, Boot log, Base video and OS boot information.

The Services tab configures Windows services. Services can be disabled and enabled.

The Startup tab in Windows 10 directs to use of the Startup section of Task Manager.

The Tools tab provides a way of quickly accessing other built-in Windows utilities.
